Community Networking Group (CNG)

CNG Steering Committee collaborating with Mayor Kim Norton to launch CNG 2.0. 

CNG Steering Committee members have sent to each member of the council, the mayor, and the city administrator the following letter that supports the inclusion of the core principles of health and wellness, as well as social equity and environmental justice. 

Instead of convening a CNG meeting in February, the CNG Steering Committee encourage friends to attend the 2/22 Cradle to Career community event. The next CNG meeting will be on March 22, 2018: panel conversations on social determinants of heath/wellness and Complete Count 2020.

We believe CNG continues to have a unique role in:  (1) Developing a common understanding of the social sector needs and its formal and organic impact on the community. (2) Focusing on designing the city and county for the people. (3) Leading the development of Rochester/Olmsted Compass Points, which has been valuable (at least to some organizations.)

Match non-profits looking for board members and high level leadership volunteers with community members who have been through community leadership programs like Leadership Greater Rochester, Ready to Lead and Collaborative Leadership fellows. 

The Voice of the Poor, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, is requesting that community members and organizations contact Rochester City Council members and the Mayor to voice their opinion on the proposed reduced monthly bus fare for low income individuals.

"A final plan for dividing a 14.1-acre Mayo Clinic parking lot into developable sections is expected to be reviewed Monday by the Rochester City Council. The site, being dubbed “West Transit Village,” sits between Second Street Southwest and Cascade Lake. It is currently used as a Mayo Clinic employee shuttle lot, and Mayo Clinic plans to construct a 2,500-stall parking structure."
