Jim Miner 2021 data and thoughts (presentation will be attached to email)
-
Jim suggested looking behind HyVee West at all the new housing being developed there
-
Most counties have seen housing prices increase over 10% in 2021
-
56% of Olmsted County home sales were under $300,000
-
Average sold price is up to $361,000 and median up to $310,000 for single family homes
-
There was only a 20-day supply of homes on the market
-
We are selling fewer homes under $300,000
-
Building permits were up 21% for single family
-
Taryn said there is a general increase in the numbers of rental units
2022 Housing Alliance Focus Items Include:
What needs our attention in 2022 for the Housing Alliance?
-
Disability and age in place. Visibility is the key.
-
Interested in knowing how the impact of the pandemic is effecting each of these groups as it related to housing (increased costs, delays, lack of engagement, etc.)
-
Olmsted Public Health would like to hear more about issues related to healthy and safe housing. Might be more applicable to existing housing though.
-
It would be great to try to track progress on securing/providing affordable units for Rochester/Olmsted County. Maybe every 6 months or so, we could compile that data.
