This summer, a first of its kind Youth Co-Design Lab paid high school students from Rochester Public Schools and near-peer facilitators from the University of Minnesota Rochester to put that expertise to work on two real problems: cannabis and vaping prevention, with Olmsted County Public Health, and pathways into health tech and med-tech careers, with Destination Medical Center. Over nine weeks, they interviewed more than 90 peers, family members, and community members inside their own networks, made sense of what they heard, and built and tested ideas on real feedback.
