Music Therapy and Cognitive Vitality: The Role of Music in Brain Health
At the March 16 Healthy Brain Workshop, Suzy Johnson, Artistic Director and Conductor of Resounding Voices, will share how music can powerfully support brain health, emotional wellbeing, and human connection. A music educator and choral conductor in the Rochester, Minnesota area for more than 30 years, Suzy has dedicated much of her career to helping people experience the joy and benefits of music. Inspired by the dementia choir “Giving Voice,” she joined the founding team of Resounding Voices in 2018, a choir created for individuals living with memory loss and their care partners.
During this engaging session, Suzy will share insights and personal stories from her work demonstrating how music can stimulate the brain, strengthen connection, and improve overall wellbeing. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience the benefits firsthand by singing together and learning simple ways to incorporate music into their daily lives to support brain health.
