About the Olmsted County Housing Environmental Scan
Housing is a significant issue in our community. As Olmsted County continues to grow, we must find ways for everyone to find a safe and stable home in our community. Fortunately, there are many ongoing efforts to address the housing concerns in our community, including identifying financial stress as a top community health priority. However, there are opportunities to enhance the clarity of the housing issues and provide opportunities for strategic collaboration.
To help provide clarity on these issues, the Olmsted County Community Health Assessment and Planning Process is teaming up with Olmsted County HRA to create the Olmsted County Housing Environmental Scan. Over the month of January, Olmsted County staff have met with over 140 people representing 49 community organizations and local businesses.
The purpose of these meetings was to create an assessment of the current strengths, assets, weaknesses, and opportunities regarding housing in Olmsted County. The public meeting on January 29th will review the results from the first series of meetings and public input on direction of the Olmsted County Housing Environmental Scan.
